Demetria L. Lucas who stars on Bravo TV’s “Blood, Sweat & Heels” did it again. The no-nonsense relationship expert, author, and award-winning blogger put together another “go-to guide.”
Different than her first book, which she talked to single ladies on the dating scene. “Don’t Waste Your Pretty: The Go-to Guide for Making Smarter Decisions in Life & Love,” is for anyone who has tried to navigate love.
The book starts off with her admitting that she became a relationship coach by accident. She became an expert at a time when a growing number of men were becoming “relationship gurus.” With a niche that often times was not “empowering,” and the guys just didn’t “get it.” Lucas notice a void in relationship counseling. Women needed someone they can relate to, at the same time receive common sense advice from.
Back then she blogged about her dating experiences, she told “the good, the bad, and the ugly.” Soon she became “The Belle of Brooklyn, the go-to girl for living your best single life.” Known for her tell-it-like-it-is attitude, that has provoked thousands of questions from women and men. She has responded to most people on her Formspring or Ask.Fm forums. And also shares her advice a column at”The Root.”
Her book consists of the Q&As that she noticed have become repetitive in her four years of coaching. Lucas, who describes herself as a “work-in-progress,” shares her theory on love. She has dealt with intense questions on how to get past sexual assault while dating? To less complicated questions. Such as, is it considered playing games if you’re not always available? She gives her candid opinion about the advice given by men relationship experts. And she even shares answers that involve her personal relationship with her fiancé CBW. Lucas not only keeps it interesting with the topics but with a personal terminology on love. Do you know what’s a “cutie run?” Or even better, what she means by “Don’t Waste Your Pretty?” Well, if not this book may be a great go-to guide for you.
It’s a quick read and hard to put down. You will find yourself intrigued by some questions people asked, and Lucas responses. “Don’t Waste Your Pretty,” is funny, shocking and thought provoking. There’s only one con. If you follow Lucas at all you may be familiar with a lot of the book without actually purchasing it. Nonetheless, it’s a good read. It can definitely become a go-to guide, for all things on love, sex and relationships.
