I usually try to bring in the New Year with the house in order, my to do list done for the week, and dinner for two. There’s been times where I have taken a few days from work to do what I call, spring cleaning in the winter. However, this usually leaves me exhausted before midnight. Last year I was so exhausted I brought the new year in with my eyes closed. I didn’t see the ball drop. This year I decided to change things up. Click To Tweet
This year I decided to change things up. I did not worry about organizing papers, although I have a new shredder. I felt like the idea of having all my laundry clean for the new year was cliché , so I didn’t clean any. I had no desire to cook, even for two. So, when my husband said, we’re invited to my brother-in-law’s for dinner, it was confirmation that I needed to relax.
I did just that!
The way I see it, I am going to be a busy little lady in 2016. I need to learn the value in having down time. I don’t need to overwhelm myself with things, people, and or my own expectations that can sometimes be, well you know, an anxiety attack waiting to happen.
So, no I didn’t clean up, and I don’t care. I didn’t make a fuss over any to do list. I just chilled, with good company, good food, and good music until the count down of the new year. I stayed out late, like the days when I was in my twenties. Woke up to go to work at 7am. I came home, I looked at the mess and said, yeah I am gonna need another day of rest.
